Driving directions:

Turn north off the A170 just east of Kirbymoorside and head for Hutton le Hole.

At the top of the village turn right, signposted Lastingham and after a steep climb for about 1/4 mile, fork left for Rosedale Chimney Bank.

Cross the moors and drop down the bank, taking care as it is very steep.

At the bottom of the bank, cross the bridge and take the first left. Dale Cottage is in the row on your left.

It is the only cottage with a porch so is easily recognisable.

In bad road conditions, turn north off the A170 at Wrelton and follow the signs for Rosedale. Fork left as you enter the village.
